The ThermoScan 7 is a reassuring thing to have in the press when a small child wakes up hot at 3am. Its Age Precision setting lets you choose newborn, baby or older child and adult, then colour-codes the result so you can see at a glance whether a temperature is normal, raised or high for that age. Braun says it is clinically proven as accurate as rectal readings in newborns, and a reading takes seconds. Disposable hygiene caps keep the lens clean, so keep refills in stock. It costs more than the ThermoScan 3, but the age-specific guidance is worth having with babies.
